In addition, proliferation markers such as Ki67 and well-known markers such as MUC1 are often assessed both in research labs and in the clinic, though the appropriate interpretation and application of this information will require further research. Finally, given the established connection between BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations and some familial breast and ovarian carcinomas, investigation of these proteins remains an area of intense study.
